EMERITUS BOARD.

Leaders of the Emeritus Board will cooperate with the outreach efforts to assist with membership and the greater diverse business community. They will seek resources to further the organization’s mission of supporting Asian American owned businesses. 

Benefits

  • Develop meaningful business and personal relationships with the board, advisory council, and members

  • Attend ALL programs, mixers, and signature events complimentary with a plus one (if RSVP) for free. Members are encouraged to bring a guest who could be a potential member/sponsor.

  • Website listing with links to company.

Eligibility

  • Any past ABA Board Member who successfully completed one 2-year term. 

  • Must be a dues-paying Premium Member in good standing with ABA.

  • Emeritus Board acceptance will be determined by the ABA Executive Board. The ABA Full Board of Directors will supersede all decisions.  

​Emeritus Board Term

Members will serve a Two-year term as an ABA Board Director. After 2 years, individuals will need to be approved by the current ABA Executive Committee. There are no term limits.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Mission and Vision of the organization.

  • Advocate for Asian American-owned businesses where possible.

  • Attend the Annual Planning Retreat (unsubsidized by the ABA) and Advisory Council meetings (both are optional and any costs are incurred by the Emeritus Board Member). 

  • Make an effort to secure at least 1 paid and 1 free member a year.

  • Will be willing to speak on behalf of ABA if called upon, with approval of the board directors.

Financial Contribution:

Members of the Emeritus Board will make a commitment of at least $500 in 2024 to support the organization. Dues may increase depending on the emeritus board. Contribution will help underwrite overhead costs associated with running the organization.

Removal:

  • Individual Emeritus Board members are able to resign themselves at any time. 

  • ABA full Board of Directors reserves the right to remove the Emeritus Board at any time with a majority vote.

ABA Board of Directors reserves the right to adjust and change any of the criteria listed above, including the amount of the contribution.
